The Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED Wireless is a reliable gaming mouse for casual and competitive players. It’s exceptionally accurate and glides around just as fast — if not faster — than my other wireless mice (though it is a little on the heavier side). There’s also no noticeable lag compared to other wireless or even wired options, courtesy of Logitech’s next-gen LIGHTSPEED technology.
There are a few disappointments, but nothing that outweighs its stellar track record. Let me show you what I mean as we dive into this Logitech gaming mouse review with a look at the G502’s finer details.
Responsiveness & Tracking
When you and your in-game opponent fire shots at the exact same time, the faster mouse will win, regardless of skill level. That’s why responsiveness is so critical — every millisecond counts, and it can make the difference between victory and defeat.

Logitech’s 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED receiver integrates proprietary end-to-end wireless transfer technology that hastens reactivity without missing a beat. Believe it or not, my research shows that the G502 Wireless responds just as fast as the wired variant, marking the first time I’ve encountered this in a mouse. It’s also exceptionally reliable, rarely losing connection and supporting 60 hours of continuous battery life atop a LiPo battery pack.
In terms of DPI, the G502’s optical HERO sensor adjusts from 100 to 25,600 in 50 DPI increments. Use Logitech’s intuitive G Hub software to adjust the DPI to your liking, and enjoy accurate tracking across most desk surfaces. Since the 1,000 Hz polling rate sends mousing data to the computer every 1ms, your cursor and hand movement sync up like a precision stopwatch. Even the menagerie of reprogrammable mechanical buttons click quickly and respond near-instantaneously, courtesy of Logitech’s button-tensioning system that snaps into action every time you press down.
The primary downside to the LIGHTSPEED Wireless is its reliance on a USB receiver. I wish that Logitech had also implemented Bluetooth, even if it lacked LIGHTSPEEDs, well, speed. Having a choice is always better than no choice, and the mouse’s USB requirement diminishes overall accessibility.
Comfort & Ergonomics
The Logitech G502 is like a penthouse suite: comfortable and outfitted with everything you need during your gaming getaway.
The ergonomic grip includes a left-side rubber thumb rest that places your hand in a supportive position and ensures a secure hold. This is particularly important considering the PTFE feet that fly around your desktop faster than a jet plane. It also complements the otherwise smooth matte surface without losing that soft, supportive touch.
Even though the LIGHTSPEED is a little heavier than some users prefer in competitive play, it’s still lighter than the ordinal corded G502 by a whopping seven grams! I haven’t noticed any performance issues related to the weight, though I do enjoy a little more heft to my peripherals.
Concerning dimensions, this Logitech gaming mouse measures 3″ wide by 5.2″ long. Users with medium to large hands should have no trouble gripping the entire mouse and accessing all 11 buttons, including the eight up top and three on the left. That said, players with petite hands may struggle to operate the mouse without extending their fingers further than comfortable or adjusting to a palm grip.

Logitech has been in the mouse business for 40 years, and it doesn’t mess around when it comes to quality designs that last.

Although any RGB is nice, I do wish Logitech incorporated more of it. Heck, even the Logitech G203 — a model that costs one-fifth the price — boasts long LED strips with even more vibrancy. A missed opportunity for the G502.
However, when all’s said and done, durability is more important than aesthetics. And Logitech’s construction shines bright. The mouse features a premium plastic shell with custom switches rated for millions of clicks. You’d have to try hard to break this thing, and average gameplay — even aggressive gameplay — shouldn’t leave a dent.

The G502 is a masterclass in mouse design, and I have to give the company credit in this Logitech gaming mouse review. The brand’s R&D team thought through every inch, incorporating the essentials while removing all the fluff.
What’s more, its wireless capabilities are second to none. The 25K HERO Sensor and 1,000 Hz polling rate provide insane wireless accuracy, while LIGHTSPEED’s 10ms response time outmaneuvers opponents almost every single time. The only wireless mouse I’ve encountered that strikes faster is the Razer Naga, which costs $50 more and targets hardcore MMO gamers, not the casual and competitive crowds.
As an ergonomics aficionado, I also appreciate the G502’s rubberized thumb grip and contouring shell. It’s not just comfortable; it literally hugs your hand, promoting a supportive grip and better wrist health. The mechanical buttons are all easily reachable, and you actuate them with a gentle kiss from your fingertips.
What bothers me most is the lack of Bluetooth support and LEDs. One would hope there’d be a good reason for such essential omissions. Maybe they would have caused too much interference or added too much weight. As it sits, Logitech stuffed an impressive amount of features, buttons, and ergonomic extras within a shell that weighs just 114 grams.
I’d say that the Logitech G502 is an excellent choice for most gamers. The most elite eSports players may find it a little too heavy, appreciating a more stripped-down variant with less functionality and thus lower weight. But that’s the price you pay for such a brilliant design. The G502 includes features you won’t find anywhere else, ones that are all but guaranteed to take your gameplay to the next level.
