Best Gaming Mice

The 10 Best Gaming Mice for Fast & Responsive Play

In today’s fast-paced titles, a single millisecond can make all the difference between victory and defeat. If your mouse is slow to move or controls more like a bazooka than a precision rifle, you’ll be outgunned and outclassed at every turn — even when you’re the more talented player. Luckily, the performance you seek is possible with the best gaming mice.

In this guide, we’ll look at ten of the smoothest and most responsive mice around, with options from top brands like Logitech and Finalmouse. Although these mice can’t make up for lack of skill, they will give you the pro-grade specs you need to compete on the leaderboards and enjoy your time exploring new worlds. When you’re ready to start the grind, let’s jump right in.

How We Evaluated These Gaming Mice

The best way to evaluate a gaming mouse is to analyze its specifications and in-game performance. So, that’s precisely what I did. I spent hours researching popular models and (whenever possible) testing them out in competitive games like Valorant and casual games like Minecraft. I also read countless user reviews to see how other players felt about each option.

Here’s an overview of the criteria I used to create this guide:

1. Quality – You can tell a lot about a mouse based on craftsmanship alone, which is why I began by judging each option’s shell material, mechanical switches, optical or laser sensor, and overall customizability.

2. Performance – Gaming mice must snap to attention, retaining a competitive edge in fast-paced action titles and more casual games alike. To ensure consistency, I carefully inspected polling rate, DPI (dots per inch, or how many on-screen pixels your mouse moves per IRL inch), and any issues with tracking or acceleration.

3. Ergonomics – Gamers spend a lot of time in battle, and your mouse should make that time easier and more comfortable, integrating a comfy grip, smooth feet, and enough buttons to bind all your important actions.

4. Design – Mice come in countless shapes and sizes, as well as wired and wireless configurations. Since everyone has their own preference, I included the best of each option, alongside lightweight honeycomb designs and shiny RGB models.

5. Budget – The team at SitWorkPlay understands that not everyone has access to a prize pool of cash money, which is why we always select the top options in every price range.

Although dozens of quality mice failed to make this list, that’s only because there was something better to replace them. You can be sure that the following mice represent the most performative options for high-stakes gameplay.

  • Program buttons and RGB effects with Logitech’s G Hub software suite

Check out the G502 LIGHTSPEED Wireless from Logitech on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

Logitech’s G502 LIGHTSPEED Wireless is the Swiss Army Knife of gaming mice. The ergonomic shell provides an ideal grip for most right-handed players, and the Hero sensor suits every gaming environment, spanning 100 to 25,600 DPI. Adjust the DPI in 100-point increments using Logitech’s G Hub software, and synchronize your speed with in-game sensitivity for a personalized experience. The 1,000 Hz report rate relays information to your system every 1ms, and my analysis shows that you can expect your button presses to get there roughly 10 seconds later. Not too shabby.

I do have some reservations about the G502, however. It doesn’t offer Bluetooth, and overall weight measures in at a whopping 114 grams. That’s nearly double the weight of Logitech’s G PRO X SUPERLIGHT (seen further down this list), and some pros find it unsuitable for competition. That said, I personally prefer a little more weight on my gear, and hundreds of like-minded, competitive players continue to dominate games like Destiny 2 and Apex Legends using the G502.

Pros

  • Battery lasts up to 60 hours; recharges via detachable USB-C cable
  • Modular design offers extra weights for a more personalized feel
  • Charges wirelessly with Logitech’s PowerPlay mousepad

Cons

  • Heavy for a competitive gaming mouse
  • No Bluetooth support; requires LIGHTSPEED receiver

Best Wired Gaming Mouse: Razer Basilisk V3

At A Glance
  • Price: $69.99
  • Maximum DPI: 26,000
  • Connectivity: Wired
  • Buttons: 11
  • Weight: 101 grams
  • Best for: Wired gaming, durability
  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Return Period: 14 Days
  • Shipping: Free
Highlights
  • Razer™ Optical Mouse Switches provide a responsive feel and last up to 70 million clicks
  • Razer™ HyperScroll lets you adjust the scroll wheel’s resistance and tactility
  • Razer Chroma™ accents your mouse with bright pops of RGB color

Check out the Basilisk V3 from Razer on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

Although cordless gaming mice have come a long way in recent years, most players stick with the tried-and-true wired variants. If you fall into this category, I recommend the new-and-improved Razer Basilisk V3 for its overall performance in the field. Razer poured a lot of energy into getting the V3 right, incorporating ultra-low latency for a 7.5ms response time and PTFE feet that fly across your desk. Razer also maintained fan-favorite features from the V2, including integrated Chroma™ LEDs, while improving existing features like Razer™ HyperScroll.

Speaking of which, I how the new HyperScroll (even if it can feel clunky on occasion). In essence, HyperScroll lets you change the scroll wheel’s resistance level, cycling from precise and clicky to loose and linear based on your gaming requirements. You can also adjust the resistance to loosen as you continue moving the wheel — perfect for scrolling down strategy guides as you prepare for the next mission. The only downside is that you have to use Razer’s massive 1GB software suite to adjust these settings. That’s enough space for multiple indie games, and there’s no way the software should come with so much bloat.

Pros

  • Sub-10ms latency ensures your competitiveness
  • PTFE feet glide smoothly across mousepads and desk mats
  • Ergonomic, ribbed thumb rest provides a resting spot for your digits

Cons

  • Bloated Razer Synapse software suite nears 1GB in size
  • Scroll wheel sometimes feels a little too loose in auto-adjusting Smart-Reel mode

Best Pro Gaming Mouse: Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT

At A Glance
  • Price: $149.99
  • Maximum DPI: 25,600
  • Connectivity: Wireless
  • Buttons: 5
  • Weight: 63 grams
  • Best for: Speed, competitive gaming
  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Return Period: 14 Days
  • Shipping: Free
Highlights
  • Lightweight 63-gram frame provides quick, snappy movement
  • Optical HERO™ Sensor offers DPI ranging from 100 to 25,600
  • LIGHTSPEED wireless technology combines with a 1,000 Hz polling rate for a <10ms response time

Check out the G PRO X SUPERLIGHT from Logitech on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

The Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT is a competition-killer, striking with ferocity and snapping faster than Indiana Jones’ iconic whip. According to Prosettings, the G PRO is the most commonly used eSports gaming mouse in the world. Its lightweight 63-gram profile and precision PTFE skates routinely score placement in games ranging from CS:GO to Rocket League.

One of my favorite things about the Logitech is its extraordinary 60-hour battery life. Combined with its consistent wireless functionality, the PRO X SUPERLIGHT is a no-brainer travel mouse for competitions and LAN tourneys. If you’re more of a homebody, Logitech sells a specialty PowerPlay mousepad that adds wireless charging to your battle station, eliminating the need for a USB-C cable and helping you remain in the game indefinitely. Unfortunately, the mousepad adds an extra $120 upcharge atop the already exorbitant $150 price tag. Still, it may be worth the price for those wishing to compete in today’s top gaming echelons.

Pros

  • Commonly used by today’s top pro players
  • PTFE feet glide across the desktop with ease
  • Comes with six programmable buttons for enhanced functionality and minimal bloat

Cons

  • Expensive $150 entry price may be out of reach for some gamers
  • Wireless charging requires a PowerPlay mousepad

Best Premium Gaming Mouse: Finalmouse Starlight-12 Series

At A Glance
  • Price: $189.99
  • Maximum DPI: 20,000
  • Connectivity: Wireless
  • Buttons: 6
  • Weight: 42 grams
  • Best for: eSports
  • Warranty: 1 Year
  • Shipping: Free
Highlights
  • Optical Finalsensor supports up to 20,000 DPI and 450 ips
  • Godspeed Wireless technology features a 1ms report rate and swift response time
  • Sleek honeycomb chassis eliminates unnecessary bulk, offering a 42-gram weigh in

Check out the Starlight-12 Series from Finalmouse on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

The Finalmouse Starlight-12 would be near the top of our list if not for one major disadvantage: it’s nearly impossible to get your hands on. That’s because Finalmouse is an exclusive manufacturer, and it releases mice in specialty drops that sell out within minutes.

If you can get your hands on one, however, it’s nearly unstoppable. Finalmouse’s iconic honeycomb chassis shaves off everything but the essentials, weighing in at just 42 grams (it’s the lightest mouse on the market). It also sweeps past the competition with a 450 ips that lets you shoot around the desk at superhuman speeds, all without missing a beat. Since you can’t have wires dragging you down, Finalmouse’s premier peripheral even comes in a completely wireless configuration, with a 1,000 Hz report rate that ensures every action actuates in milliseconds.

Pros

  • Jauch li-ion battery lasts around 160 hours per charge
  • Magnesium chassis enhances structural integrity and adds minimal weight
  • Finalmouse is the weapon of choice for today’s biggest gaming stars, including players like Ninja and TenZ

Cons

  • Near-impossible to find on the open market
  • Thin shell is relatively fragile; should be treated with care

Best Budget Gaming Mouse: Logitech G203

At A Glance
  • Price: $19.99
  • Maximum DPI: 8,000
  • Connectivity: Wired
  • Buttons: 6
  • Weight: 85 grams
  • Best for: Small budgets
  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Return Period: 14 Days
  • Shipping: $5
Highlights
  • $20 price point offers pro-grade weight and tracking on any budget
  • Center DPI cycle button moves through five presets one click at a time
  • RGB LEDs adorn the Logitech G203’s bottom strip and center G logo

Check out the G203 from Logitech on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

Believe it or not, $20 buys you access to a gaming mouse that holds its own against more expensive options. No, the Logitech G203 isn’t the fanciest mouse around. During my testing, I always seemed to hit the center DPI swapping button at inopportune moments, and the snake-like cord is prone to tangling. But aside from a few minor quirks, the G203 is surprisingly responsive, with a polling rate of 1,000. What’s more, the limited 8,000 DPI isn’t nearly as big an issue as you’d think since most players keep theirs well under 5,000 anyways.

I particularly enjoy the lovely LEDs that flash across the bottom of the mouse and pop in the center G logo. While built-in logos like this are often tasteless, Logitech’s minimal G fits the sleek design and complements the otherwise matte finish. Use Logitech’s G Hub software to customize the RGBs and six programmable buttons to your preference, and enjoy your favorite casual and competitive games without spending a fortune. The G203 is an excellent starting option that most players will adore.

Pros

  • Mechanical switches offer a satisfying, tactile click
  • G Hub Software lets you customize RGB lighting and key commands
  • Features a similar design and weight to the much more expensive G PRO

Cons

  • Easy to accidentally press the center button, leading to occasional mistakes
  • Non-braided wire feels fragile and may tangle without a mouse bungee

Best Gaming Mouse for Ergonomics: Cooler Master MM720

At A Glance
  • Price: $29.99
  • Maximum DPI: 32,000
  • Connectivity: Wired
  • Buttons: 6
  • Weight: 49 grams
  • Best for: Ergonomic gameplay
  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Return Period: 30 Days
  • Shipping: Free
Highlights
  • Ergonomic honeycomb shell weighs just 49 grams
  • PixArt PMW3389 optical sensor features a best-in-class 32,000 DPI for insane tracking
  • Incorporates RGB lighting, customizable via MasterPlus+ software

Check out the MM720 from Cooler Master on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

Most gaming mice feature a single, aerodynamic shell with few ergonomic features. While this works well for most users, it’s not particularly supportive. The Cooler Master MM720 changes all that, introducing a unique shape with a right-side ring and pinky rest for a more supportive grip. What’s more, the MM720 sacrifices nothing in regard to gaming performance, maintaining all the essential features and weighing in at just 49 grams (without the cord, of course).

Speaking of the cord, Cooler Master incorporates a unique Ultraweave cable design that only adds 30 grams to the finished product. Although I find wireless mice work best for me, it’s the next best thing, with a tug-free design that you hardly even notice is there.

The biggest downfall of the MM720 is its button squeaking. After a few months of use, you may begin to notice an annoying chirp as the plastic parts rub together. The only real fix is adding some mechanical lubricant every few months, which is hardly an ideal remedy. That said, I find the ergonomic comfort and overall performance worth the trade-off.

Pros

  • Ultraweave cable weighs 30 grams and registers minimal resistance
  • 6ms latency and 400 ips movement rivals gaming mice twice as expensive
  • Claw-like shape and ergonomic ring finger support keeps you balanced and on-target

Cons

  • No wireless option
  • Prone to squeaking after a couple months of use

Best Lightweight Gaming Mouse: Glorious Model O

At A Glance
  • Price: $39.99
  • Maximum DPI: 12,000
  • Connectivity: Wired
  • Buttons: 6
  • Weight: 67 grams
  • Best for: Snappy movement
  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Return Period: 30 Days
  • Shipping: $8.99
Highlights
  • Honeycomb shell shaves weight down to 67 grams
  • Mechanical Omron switches feel tactile and responsive
  • Features a proprietary Ascended Cord, with a flexible and lightweight braided weave

Check out the Model O from Glorious on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

Although the Glorious Model O isn’t the lightest-weight mouse around (that honor goes to the aforementioned Finalmouse Starlight-12), it is the best lightweight option for average players. At just $40, the Model O comes with everything you need for snappy gameplay, including a honeycomb shell that reduces its weight down to just 67 grams and Virgin G-SKATE feet that snap around your mousepad like a raging viper.

Concerning ergonomics, I’ve had great luck with the Model O’s mechanical Omron switches, which feel tactile and responsive alongside the 1,000 Hz polling rate. I also enjoyed Glorious’ personalization options, as you can customize the internal LEDs and even the Ascended Cord’s color scheme.

My biggest complaint with the Model O is its heavy branding. The mouse’s icons and logos serve as a stark reminder of how much I dislike the company’s full Glorious PC Master Race name and strange slogans.

Pros

  • Ascended Cord comes in eight different colors, offering a personalized look
  • G-SKATE feet incorporate Virgin PTFE and smooth, rounded edges
  • RGB LEDs accent the minimal white or black design with just a hint of color

Cons

  • Glorious software is only compatible with Windows
  • Company’s branding comes plastered across both sides of the mouse

Best Gaming Mouse With LEDs: SteelSeries Aerox 3

At A Glance
  • Price: $41.99
  • Maximum DPI: 8.500
  • Connectivity: Wired
  • Buttons: 6
  • Weight: 59 grams
  • Best for: Aesthetics
  • Warranty: 1 Year
  • Return Period: 30 Days
  • Shipping: $8.99
Highlights
  • Golden Micro IP54 switches are rated for 80 million clicks
  • Includes a smooth-tracking TrueMove Core optical switch developed by SteelSeries and Pixart
  • Internal LEDs shine through the top and bottom of the mouse, and there are additional accents on each side

Check out the Aerox 3 from SteelSeries on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

Although there are many LED gaming mice out there, the SteelSeries Aerox 3 is my favorite. I adore the way light peeks through the lightweight honeycomb shell like a hive full of glistening bees. You’ll also find RGB accents snaking across the bottom for a subtle surface glow that adds to the overall ambiance.

In terms of performance, the TrueMove Core sensor smoothly tracks up to 8,500 DPI — lower than competing models but still high enough for 99% of users. You can also rest assured of its overall reliability, as the TrueMove sensor is the brainchild of SteelSeries and legendary mouse manufacturer, PixArt.

Although the Aerox 3 aggressively markets itself as a durable gaming mouse, I’m not convinced. Sure, it has fancy-sounding technology like AquaBarrier™ water-resistance and Golden Micro switches. But the hole-ridden design flexes under moderate pressure, and I’d encourage any user to be delicate during use.

Pros

  • Honeycomb shell is lightweight and zippy
  • USB-C connects to your Windows or Mac machine for speedy data transfer
  • Large dual skates elevate the Aerox 3 and move smoothly across soft surfaces

Cons

  • ABS plastic flexes under moderate pressure
  • Some features like AquaBarrier™ water-resistance seem unnecessary, only add to price

Best Customizable Gaming Mouse: Pwnage Ultra Custom

At A Glance
  • Price: $67.99
  • Maximum DPI: 16,000
  • Connectivity: Wireless
  • Buttons: 6
  • Weight: 68 grams
  • Best for: Personalization
  • Warranty: 1 Year
  • Return Period: 30 Days
  • Return Period: $8.99
Highlights
  • PAW3335 sensor provides pro-grade tracking
  • Modular design offers thousands of color and style configurations
  • Features hints of RGB underneath the internal shell

Check out the Ultra Custom from Pwnage on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

I initially discovered Pwnage through an aggressive Facebook ad campaign. To be honest, I take that as a negative sign, as these products are usually more hype than anything else. But after further research and testing, I’m convinced that the Pwnage is a reliable gaming mouse, one that you can personalize to no end.

What’s special about the mouse is that it comes in thousands of different configurations. You can choose the color and shape of the button cover, top shell cover, DPI buttons, and even the paracord USB-C cable. While all the options perform quite well, the honeycomb design is my favorite, offering a lightweight, competitive setup suitable for pro gameplay.

One thing to note is that Pwnage says you can take off the shell altogether and use a claw grip that hovers over the internal components. This is a bad idea. There’s a reason mice come with shells, and several online reviews warn about broken electronics after using it without its protective cover.

Pros

  • Works well in palm and claw grip
  • Battery life lasts around 40 hours and only takes one hour to recharge
  • Thick paracord cable and durable Omron switches ensure years of use

Cons

  • Loud Omron switches may annoy housemates or teammates over comms
  • Despite marketing claims, the internal components are fragile and should not be adjusted by unskilled users

Best MMO Gaming Mouse: Razer Naga Pro

At A Glance
  • Price: $149.99
  • Maximum DPI: 20,000
  • Connectivity: Wireless
  • Buttons: 20
  • Weight: 117 grams
  • Best for: MMOs
  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Return Period: 14 Days
  • Shipping: Free
Highlights
  • Enjoy up to 20 programmable buttons
  • Razer™ Hyperspeed features a best-in-class 5ms response time
  • Razer™ Focus+ Optical Sensor tracks smoothly across the desk or mousepad

Check out the Naga Pro from Razer on the manufacturer’s site to see more features.

The Razer Naga Pro is the premier MMO gaming mouse. While its utility outside the massively multiplayer realm is relatively limited (it’s the heaviest mouse on this list), the Naga thrives in complex, keybind-rich environments like WoW and RuneScape.

If you’re willing to spend some time learning new mouse controls, the Naga’s 20 programmable buttons make navigating complicated ability systems and extensive menus incredibly easy. What’s more, you’ll never have to worry about lettings your friends down mid-raid, as the mouse features 150 hours of battery life. The trade-off, of course, is the relatively large and bulky design. But I haven’t run into any size-related issues playing non-competitive titles.

If you’re really keen on using the Naga for fast-paced games like Valorant or Apex Legends, it’s possible to swap out the side plate for fewer buttons. This doesn’t do much to reduce weight, but it does provide clutter-free access to Razer’s Hyperspeed technology, which boasts a surprisingly swift 5ms response time.

Pros

  • 150 hours battery life keeps you in the game for six days straight
  • Save and activate your button profiles instantly via Naga’s onboard memory
  • Swappable side plates provide access to your choice of 12 side buttons, six side buttons, or three side buttons

Cons

  • Among the heaviest gaming mice; not suitable for competitive play
  • Lackluster RGB only shines through the logo, mouse wheel, and side buttons
